A beautiful Bitossi pottery candle holder. Designed by Aldo Londi in the late 1950s, this is the Rimini Blu design, with banded stripes in blue glazes. It has model number 26/9 scribed to the reverse, along with an old paper price sticker (cost 6.75) and probably dates from the 1970s. A three-tone blue small and low candle holder, straight-sided with overlapping bands (dark blue, greeny blue and turquoise/cyan stripes - like Mediterranean seas). Designed to take a single standard tapered dinner candle and catch any wax in the outer ring. All typical glazes and colours of designs by Londi. Handmade and rustic in feel and nature with Bitossi's typical rough textured clay. Excellent condition with no chips (Bitossi is very prone to flakes and small chips due to the rustic pottery, so it's very unusual to find something so good). 10cm wide x 4cm tall. Inner candle holder is about 2.4cm wide. Signed to the base. Price includes P&P to the UK.
