A super boxed Dartington Water Carafe and matching Tumbler. The set is 24% lead crystal and designed by Frank Thrower in 1981. Simple stylish straight-edged design, the tumbler glass sits on top of the carafe to both form a seal and to protect the water before consumption - perfect for a night time bedside table or for an office/boardroom, designed for one person. Handmade in Dartington, England. Circa 1980s vintage with two old black stickers. It looks to be identical to an older design, FT89 from 1969, which was affectionately named 'Bed and Up'.
Very good collectable boxed example - hardly touched. No chips or anything. High quality heavy lead crystal carafe with solid glass base. The tumbler is thin fragile glass and lighter weight. Straight edged simple glass is 7 x 7.5cm. Carafe is 15.5cm tall x 7.2cm wide max. Holds 400ml - so about 3/4 pint, or two glasses full. Lovely crystal ring to it. Carefully handmade / mouth blown. 
The black stickers and sticker to the box base denotes this was classed as a 'slightly imperfect' when originally sold. The carafe has a bubble and black dot, I can't see any faults with the cup.
Perfect for a collector.
