A lovely simple and stylish satin stainless steel 1960s Old Hall ice bucket with tongs and original inner ice holder/drainer - all designed by Robert Welch. I'm not sure if it's the Alveston or Oriana design ice bucket (online these appear to be called Alveston, but in the Robert Welch book it's Oriana). If it's Oriana, it was designed in 1958, and is model number 43210. The tongs are the Alveston ice tongs #43213, designed to be used with this ice bucket (they're larger than the sugar tongs). The inner holder supports the ice and allows the water to drain down and out of the way and has two well-designed finger pinch holes for lifting out. Circa 1960s or 1970s vintage - great Modernist designs with a high quality sturdy feel. Stamped under the handles, within the ice tongs and under the holder with the Old Hall logo and "Designed by R Welch, Old Hall England, 18/8 Stainless Steel". Ice bucket is petite at 12.3cm tall x 9.5cm wide base (12.5cm wide max at rim). The tongs are the larger scale ice tongs - 14.5cm long x 2cm tall. The drainer is 28mm tall and sits neatly within the bucket. All very good condition for age and era with not many marks. The bucket has some scratches in one patch to one side. The bucket has an old Design Centre London 'Steel Appeal' sticker to the base. Includes P&P to the UK.
