A pair of fab oversized ornamental acorns. Handmade studio pottery pieces, probably of some vintage.
They remind me of Bernard Rooke's nature pieces, but are unsigned. Hollow large pottery/stoneware acorns, both in their cups - one with leaves which form a flattened area so it can stand up, and one in its cup with a small stem.
Warm biscuit-coloured unglazed and textured lower parts, top halves are a smooth glossier speckled brown glaze. Cleverly moulded/formed and handmade. Littles holes underneath from formation.
They're perfect as props in a fruit bowl or on a mantelpiece, 12cm tall x 7.5cm widest. Very good condition, see pics. Some deliberate rustic imperfections from being handmade. No maker's marks.
