An iconic cylinder shaped pottery vase by Scheurich Keramik, West Germany - commonly known as the Amsterdam or Onion vase. Dating from the 1960s/1970s 'fat lava' era, this has a matt 'flame orange' glaze. The orange bleeds and drips and varies in tones, textures and colours over the onion shaped relief patterns. Orangey top, flame red/orange middle, darker burnt colouring around the base. The raised patterns are dark brown with some whiter highlights. Glossy brown inside. Mid Century Modern and retro in styling - perfect statement for your teak sideboard and to add to an Onions collection. Perfect size for a bunch of mid-sized flowers and ideal for a fun and funky orange decor. The shape is 285-15... 15 denoting 15cm tall (well, slightly taller). 8cm wide. Stamped to the base. Very good condition with no chips. Some natural manufacturing glaze inconsistencies as you'd expect for this finish (including some whiter highlights, pitted finish, bleeding glaze etc.). Please see photos - it's orangier in real life, photos taken in winter light. Price includes P&P to the UK.
