Simple and stylish stainless steel boxed Old Hall ice tongs, designed by Robert Welch... Designed by Robert Welch, Des. RCA., FSIA, for Old Hall (Sheffield, England). Part of the iconic Alveston range from 1964, these were in production from 1964 to 1984(ish). The Alveston range won a Design Centre Award in 1965, and is now much sought after. Circa 1960s or 1970s vintage - great Modernist design with a high quality sturdy feel. The 6 inch tongs are the Alveston ice tongs #43213, designed to be used with an ice bucket (they're larger than the sugar tongs, and harder to find). Satin finish 18/8 quality stainless steel. Stamped inside with the Old Hall logo and "Designed by R Welch, Old Hall England, 18/8 Stainless Steel". The tongs are interchangable with the Campden range. The tongs are the larger version of the design (not the sugar tongs) - 14.7cm long x 2.1cm tall x 5cm wide. Great condition for age and era with not many signs of use. In original card box with plastic protector bag. Box is good for age. Includes P&P to the UK.
